Drip Coffee Makers

When it comes to coffee makers, drip coffee makers are the most traditional and the easiest to use because they are very simple in the way that they function. Drip coffee makers have been around for a long time and are regarded as the old faithful of coffee makers so it is only natural that they have become the standard model in the majority of households around the world.

Drip coffee makers have a very simplistic design and are made up of only a few different components. The base is the main compenent of the drip coffee maker and has a number of different functions which includes storing the water in a water reservoir, heating of the water that is to be filtered through the coffee grounds into the coffee pot, and creating the suction process that pulls the water out of the water reservoir and into the filter and eventually into the coffee pot. There are a number of different styles of bases that drip coffee makers can have, some that add to the functionality of drip coffee makers all together, or some that are just simply a different design and offer no additional functionality.

Another component of drip coffee makers is the filter component which is where this coffee maker gets it's name. The filter is a cone shape cup that has a hole in the bottom where the water flows through into the coffee pot (carafe) after it has gone through the coffee grounds and filter. This process is what makes coffee what it is. The grounds contain the flavoring and the filter prevents any grounds from getting into the carafe. The end result is coffee flavored water, but we simply refer to it as coffee.

The final component is the carafe, or coffee pot to some people. This is where the coffee ends up and is what is used to pour the coffee into cups. The carafe comes in many different shaps in sizes. There carafe can come in different sizes including 4 cup, 10 cup, and 12 cup sizes. There are also models available that brew only one cup of coffee. These types of drip coffee makers are great for people that are constantly on the go and may not have a lot of time to wait around for a whole pot of coffee. For those that require a large quantity, perhaps for a small gathering of up to 20 people, there are canister coffee makers that make larger amounts of coffee than the typical drip coffee makers.

Drip coffee makers have been around for many years and have been providing great tasting coffee to millions of people around the world and will continue to do so for many years to come. Over the years, however, there have been some advancements made in the wold of coffee makers and those advancements have brought other types of coffee makers that provide more functions and more convenience than the standard drip coffee makers. Some of the newer types of coffee makers include the one cup coffee makers, automatic coffee makers, stainless steel coffee makers, and commercial coffee makers.
